Those mobile pop-ups are EVERYWHERE, but that is going to change very quickly. Google has decided to penalize websites that have these mobile pop-ups starting in January. That’s right your site will be penalized if you have a pop up on the mobile view of your website. This can be an ad or even an email subscription sign up.
The good news is that you have until January 2017 to fix this problem which is highly unusual since Google usually doesn’t give much warning of a coming change. So, check your site on your mobile phone and if you have anything that pops up take it off!
You can read the full explanation here on Brandon Gaille’s site: The Google Pop-up (Interstitial) Penalty Explained.
