Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 8 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
Your “Secret Subject” is:
Your husbands class reunion is coming up. He hasn’t mentioned it but his old high school sweetheart did when you saw her at Costo…
It was submitted by: https://cognitivescript.blogspot.com/
This is so funny because I was recently invited to my own 30yr class reunion (how the hell did THAT happen!) and we entertained the idea of going for about three days and then a comment from my little brother brought us back to reality. “Why? You didn’t like the people you went to school with.” Yeah, that was all it took.
Let me clear this up by saying this: There were a few that I liked, but they either weren’t in my grade or wouldn’t be caught dead at a class reunion. I don’t feel the need to impress anyone, not that I could. I did gain one thing from this Facebook invitation. It has allowed me to contact the few people who I did like…and guess what they aren’t going either! The best thing is that it gave me the push to keep searching for my very best friend who was a grade higher and whom I had lost touch with when we were still teenagers.
I found her! She doesn’t do Facebook or any social media even, so me stalking Facebook wasn’t going to help. Turns out all it took was talking to a friend of a friend. Anyway, to make a long story short we found each other again and we picked up just like old times. We’ve yet to see each other face to face, but many phone conversations later I have learned quite a bit. Like:
- At one time we lived less than two miles from each other and had no idea.
- Where she lives now is just up the road from where my mom lived before we moved here to SC
- We have matured at the exact same level, even though we are both moms we act like 7th-grade boys.
That wasn’t what the prompt asked for was it.
If I ran into his old girlfriend at Costco I’d be very shocked since she lives 400 miles away. She is also the mother of my stepdaughter and is working on let’s see her….7th or 8th marriage. She would have to be the one to tell me because he wouldn’t have a clue. He doesn’t do Facebook, he doesn’t stay in touch with anyone he went to school with and did I mention we live 400 miles away. If I mentioned “Class Reunion” and he’d say, “thanks, but no thanks”.
