Jeré Cassidy

Welcome to the fifth in our “Women In Biz All Around WordPress” feature that will run the 1st Sunday of every month. It’s a new series where we spotlight amazing women and the ways in which they have used WordPress to spread their message, sell their products, or provide valuable services.

The hope is to inspire other midlife women to build their online businesses and find what we’re all looking for; financial freedom, a lifestyle they love, and excitement they may have been missing! All of these women are clients of mine who have inspired me over the years and I think they will inspire you as well.

This month I want to introduce Jeré Cassidy from I consider Jeré a good friend and most definitely a loyal client. Like the Contessa from the first feature, Jeré has been with me from the very beginning.

I’m always in awe of people who can create scrumptious meals & desserts from just about anything. Jere is that kind of woman. Her site is filled with amazing recipes, great tips, and enough food porn to keep you salivating for more!

Isn’t she beautiful?!? Here’s a little more about her:

Tell us a little bit about you

I seem to be a little bit of everything. I live in Sacramento and have the great role of being a wife and mother. When I am not in the kitchen baking you can find me in the garden or exploring Northern California.

What made you first decide to build a blog or website? How long have you had your site?

I am the ultimate foodie so I search far and wide to find great places to eat and learn about all our different kinds of foods. It’s an obsession.

What made you first decide to build a blog or website? How long have you had your site?

After I finished culinary school at the age of 52 I needed an outlet to use my cooking and baking skills. By heart, I am a baker, I love to turn my oven on and bake. That is why my blog is called “One Hot Oven” because my oven is on all the time.
My goal with the One Hot Oven blog is to show everyone how easy it is to bake at home. Homemade food is so much better than store-bought, so I make my recipes simple so everyone can be a successful baker.

What is your niche?

My niche is all about baking both sweet and savory foods, along with baking tips and tricks.

Of all of your blog posts or pages on your site which is your favorite?

The 12 Days of Christmas Tea Pairings has to be the hardest post I have done and is definitely my favorite. This post was updated for twelve straight days and each post showcased a dessert with a specific. tea.

What is your favorite social media platform and why?

Right now Instagram is my favorite. There are so many foodies out there and I get a lot of engagement with so many people. It’s also my go-to place to see what is popular right.

Do you find WordPress easy to maneuver or do you avoid the back end like the plague?

I have a love-hate relationship with WordPress. There are certain things about it I totally understand and have learned over the years but I know my limits on messing with the back end.

Is your site a business that makes money or a passion that makes your heart sing?

I have started to make money on the site. It’s a slow process.

If you use your site for business what do you sell or what service do you provide?

Right now I only sell through affiliate links, but an E-book is starting to sound like it may happen soon.

What is one thing you’d like people to know about you?

I am a strong woman with lots of passions and a caring heart.
Very well said! That completely sums it up and is so true of Jeré. Are you looking for some mouth-watering goodies and make a new friend at the same time? Then hop on over to & no licking the screen.
